Colombian President wants c bank to halt peso rise

The president of Colombia has called on the central bank to halt the pesos rise against the US dollar to promote economic recovery through a more competitive exchange rate.

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe on Wednesday called for the Central Bank to take action to halt the rise of the peso, which slipped against the U.S. dollar after his statement.

Uribe's call was the latest volley in a verbal battle with the Central Bank, which on April 28 raised interest rates by 1 percentage
