MPs call for sack for Palestine central bank chief

MPs are urging Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to sack the governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, AFP reported this week, saying the appointment was never approved by parliament.

During a meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the deputies called on Arafat to "immediately suspend the central bank governor Amin Haddad and replace him" according to the report.

Haddad's appointment by Arafat in August 2002 was never submitted for approval by parliament as required by the Palestinian
