Brazil c bank staff strike, trading system crashes

A strike on Wednesday 23 Julysaw workers stay away from the central bank of Brazil as employees protested at planned cuts to pension benefits. In what was described as an unrelated event, the computer system for bond and currency trading crashed.

Brazil's central bank workers went on strike today to protest President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's plan to cut pension benefits for public servants.

About 15 percent of the bank's 4,600 workers nationwide walked off their jobs, said
