New Iraqi currency 'will not be fixed to dollar'

The governor of the central bank of Iraq, Sinan al-Shabibi, has said Iraq is not considering fixing its new dinar to the dollar. But he added, "The question in the market is what is a float. We don't want it to fluctuate very much".

Iraq is not considering fixing its new dinar to the dollar but needs to increase its foreign exchange reserves to intervene in markets and stabilise the currency, according to the governor of the Iraqi central bank.
