Gerashchenko may stay in office for another term

RUSSIA - Viktor Gerashchenko is ready to head the Central Bank of Russia for another term in office. He announced this position talking with reporters.

Gerashchenko explained that in accordance with the law, the Central Bank Chairman is appointed for four years, and his term in office will end on 11 September 2002.

Three months before that date, the President of Russia should nominate a candidate for the post of Central Bank Chairman to be considered by the lower house of parliament
