Indonesian govt proposes bill on central bank

The Indonesian government proposed here Monday a draft bill on the independence of the country's central bank, Bank Indonesia, to amend the existing one.

Coordinating minister for economic affairs Rizal Ramli told the House of Representatives (DPR) in a plenary session that the amendment of the existing central bank bill was clearly needed to adjust to new developments in economy as well as to improve the work of the central bank in its mission to support the country's economic activities.
