Belgium's Quaden says all things possible

Belgian National Bank governor Guy Quaden said in a radio interview it is possible for the European Central Bank to control inflation at the same time as promoting growth.

"These two objectives do not seem irreconcilable to me," Quaden, a member of the ECB's governing council, told Belgian radio.

The ECB on Thursday raised rates by 25 basis points to 3.00 pct, with president Jean-Claude Trichet leaving the door open for at least another hike before the end of the year.
