BOJ considers easing credit further

JAPAN - The Bank of Japan is considering easing credit to give the economy a push before companies close their books for the half year ending this month, BOJ sources have said.

The central bank will decide whether to do so at its monetary policy meeting next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The government and ruling coalition have called on the BOJ to do something to stem the recent steep decline in stock prices, which some fear could undermine the financial system as a whole.

The bank's most likely option
