Independence vital for Russia's central bank - PM

RUSSIA - Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said the Central Bank of Russia must be independent.

He told journalists on Saturday that the government "has had and will have a consistent position that the Central Bank must not be controlled by any other body".
