Germany slips into recession in third quarter

GERMANY - Germany's economy slipped into technical recession in the third quarter, after poor figures for gross domestic product growth confirmed a decline for the second three-month period running.

The 0.1 per cent fall in adjusted GDP, compared with the previous quarter, followed a very slight decline in the April-June period and pointed to bleaker prospects ahead, based on recent early indicators. Year on year, adjusted GDP rose by 0.4 per cent, compared with 0.6 per cent in the second quarter
