New governor appointed at the Bank of Korea

SOUTH KOREA - Park Seung has been appointed as the next governor of the Bank of Korea. He will take over at the beginning of April after current governor Chon Chol-hwan's four-year term ends on 31 March.

Seung was flattered to be chosen for the post: "It will be a great honour to return to the Bank of Korea, which is like my home town." He began his career at the central bank in 1961 where he worked for 15 years, and briefly returned as a member of the monetary policy board in 1986.
