Calls to unseat BSP chief Buenaventura grow louder

According to "BusinessWorld" magazine, calls for Bangko Sentral Gov. Rafael B. Buenaventura to resign grew louder even as the Macapagal-Arroyo administration vowed its support for measures to grant more powers to the central monetary authority. A group of economists in the University of the Philippines who are strong supporters of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo may issue a statement calling for the resignation of Mr. Buenaventura who was appointed by disgraced President Joseph Estrada.
