€ Euro - Spaniards await manana

SPAIN - Only 42 per cent of businesses in Spain say they are ready for the euro, according to a survey by the Spanish chambers of commerce published yesterday.

The poll of 7,903 business establishments, conducted in September, also revealed that more than 25 per cent of Spanish companies would not be ready for the euro by January 1. Most businesses, however, thought they would be ready by the end of February, when pesetas will be withdrawn from circulation.
