Bank of Canada names deputy gov of finance markets

CANADA - Sheryl Kennedy has been asked to serve as deputy governor of financial markets for Bank of Canada.

She assumes these responsibilities following the recent death of Tim Noel.

Kennedy has been a deputy governor and member of the bank's governing council since joining the bank in 1994. The governing council takes responsibility for the bank's affairs, including formulating and implementing monetary policy.

Most recently, Kennedy has been deputy govenor responsible for the bank's corporate
