IMF warns of 'downside risks' to Canada's economy

The IMF said on Tuesday 9 December in its annual report on Canada that the Canadian economy was resilient and it agreed with the consensus view that Canada's near-term outlook is "broadly favourable." But it warned of downside risks with the Canadian dollar's strength a threat to exports.

Ottawa may need to cut spending more if the federal government is to keep its pledge to avoid a deficit, the International Monetary Fund said Tuesday.
