Finnish central bank governor on medical leave

The governor of Finland's central bank Matti Vanhala will be on leave from the Bank until June. Mr Vanhala will be undergoing an operation.

Vanhala is expected to return to his post in June and will be replaced as head of the Bank of Finland by his deputy Matti Louekoski during his absence. Mr Louekoski will also attend ECB meetings during this time.

The operation involves a type of cancer which Mr Vanhala has had since 1999.
