Finnish minister objects to one central bank pick

FINLAND - A senior Finnish minister on Wednesday proposed an alternative candidate to fill one of the vacant board positions at the Bank of Finland, setting up a possible showdown with the central bank's supervisors.

Second Finance Minister Suvi-Anne Siimes said she backed the board's proposal of to appoint veteran politician and leader of the Centre Party Esko Aho, but did not want member of parliament Ilkka Kanerva to fill the other position.
