ECB report says bank risk low

The European Central Bank said in a report on Wednesday 18 April that bank balance sheets are strong and they are well protected against risks from booming lending for private equity buy-out deals in the European Union.

Existing regulation was sufficient to cope with risks from the boom in leveraged buy-outs, the ECB said in the report.

"The muted systemic risk potential identified in this report does not appear to warrant a large and coordinated regulatory involvement in leveraged buy-out
