Russian PM says old regulations hinder economy

RUSSIA - The existing system of currency regulation and control hampers the development of the national economy, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said at a cabinet session on Thursday.

"Currency regulation is a barrier whose height moulds the difference between levels of economic development of Russia and other countries," he said.

The time has come to replace the principles of permission with the principles of notification, Kasyanov said.

The government has initiated a number of measures
