CBN seeks restriction on lending to government

Nigeria's central bank is supporting a Bill which would place further limits on government borrowing from the central bank. CBN Governor Joseph Sanusi said fiscal prudence was vital for the effective conduct of monetary policy.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is working out modalities for the introduction of law that would restrict the supervisory bank's lending to government.

The CBN Governor, Joseph Sanusi who disclosed this in Abuja at the weekend at the Harvard
