Fukui repeats deflation pledge

Toshihiko Fukui told Japan's parliament on Tuesday 23 March that the BoJ would continue with its ultra-loose monetary policy until deflation disappears completely in Japan.

In prepared testimony to a parliamentary committee, Fukui said the Bank of Japan would not change its policy until the core consumer price index shows at least low inflation for a sustained period and is unlikely to fall back.

"As we have said earlier, even if such conditions are met, we may see it as appropriate to maintain
