Romania appoints new Board of Directors

The National Bank of Romania has a new Board of Directors, Rompres reported on Tuesday 12 October. The BNR management was agreed by parliament in late September following fierce debate.

In the shake-up Mugur Isarescu was reappointed to his 3rd term as governor. Florin Georgescu was appointed first vice-governor and vice-president of the Board of Directors. Previously Georgescu was finance minister from 1992 to 1996, and was most recently president of the Monitoring Committee of the Romanian
