Central banks to add MBS, agencies, gold

According to this article by Reuters, published Wednesday 14 June, central banks are planning to diversify foreign reserves away from US government debt into higher-yielding assets, including mortgage bonds.

The article says that according to a UBS Securities survey, almost all of the 90 central banks polled now have the authority to spend reserves on bonds other than Treasury debt.

The survey's results suggest that central banks are moving more aggressively into spread product, the Reuters
