Most central banks are not responsible for pricing payments in their jurisdictions, the Payments Benchmarks 2024 find.
Only 19 (48.7%) of 39 respondents say they have a payment services pricing policy. These central banks may dictate processing fees on electronic transactions. The fees may be variable or a flat fee.
Payment service pricing is less practised among European central banks but more common in Asia-Pacific and Africa. Four-fifths (87.5%) of the eight respondents from the Asia-Pacific
