Average IT salaries are highest in Europe

Pay varies by income of institutions’ host economies

The average IT annual salary across 17 central banks was $30,874, data from the Fintech & IT Benchmarks 2021 shows. Central banks in Europe had the highest-paid IT staff, with an average annual wage of $34,213.

However, this average masks a wide dispersion in salaries across the region. The IT salary at central banks in middle income European countries was just $16,131, far lower than the $125,000 disclosed by one institution in a high income country.
