Media relations takes up the most time, on average, for central bank communications teams, but other duties are not far behind.
Data from Communications Benchmarks 2022 shows comms teams spent an average of 15.1% of their time working on media relations. A total of 28 central banks gave data on the breakdown of time spent on different communications tasks.
Other duties were not far behind, with updating the website accounting for 13.3%, internal comms 12.4%, editorial duties 11.7%, and social
