Techforward Award: Peter Wierts
De Nederlandsche Bank’s Peter Wierts was working on the tensions between private and public interests in payments, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and crypto regulation prior to the stablecoin crash of May this year. Algorithmic stablecoin terra depegged from the dollar, unable to keep up with crypto market movements. “I don’t think it would even qualify as a stablecoin under proposed regulation,’’ he tells Central Banking.
