Panicos Demetriades
Following a long career as professor of financial economics at the University of Leicester, Panicos Demetriades is now a freelance consultant in central banking and financial regulation. During 2012–14, he served as the governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus and member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank.
Demetriades has published two books on central banking, written numerous articles for leading academic and policy journals, and is regularly invited to give keynote talks to academic and policy audiences worldwide.
He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Cambridge, and is a fellow of the UK’s Academy of Social Sciences.
