Andrew Sheng
Andrew Sheng is an international adviser to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and China Investment Corporation. He was chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong from October 1998 to September 2005, and, before that, the deputy chief executive responsible for reserves management and external affairs at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Sheng is an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, Beijing, and the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He has previously led the Fung Global Institute, and sat on the boards of Khazanah Nasional, Sime Darby and Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority. From 1989 to 1993, he was a senior manager of the financial sector development department at the World Bank. From 1976 to 1989, he held various positions with Bank Negara Malaysia, including chief economist and assistant governor in charge of bank and insurance regulations.
