Bank Negara Malaysia holds policy rate
Central bank has left key rate unchanged for 20 months against backdrop of strong growth
In a decision that had been widely expected, Malaysia’s central bank held its policy rate today (January 22) for the 10th consecutive meeting.
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) kept the overnight policy rate (OPR) at 3% – a level unchanged since May 2023.
“At the current OPR level, the monetary policy stance remains supportive of the economy and is consistent with the current assessment of inflation and growth prospects,” the central bank said in a statement.
