Latvian ex-governor Rimšēvičs sentenced to six years in prison
Court finds former central bank governor guilty of taking bribes
Ilmārs Rimšēvičs, the former governor of the Bank of Latvia, was convicted of bribery and sentenced to six years in prison on December 20.
The Riga District Court in Jūrmala found Rimšēvičs guilty of accepting a bribe and other “material inducements”, public broadcaster LSM reported.
As well as the prison sentence, Rimšēvičs received a five-year ban on holding public offices. The court confiscated around €25,000 ($27,400) and several pieces of real estate.
Rimšēvičs was sentenced alongside Māris
