US Senate confirms Jefferson and Cook for Fed posts

Upper house agrees to vote soon on Biden’s third nominee, Adriana Kugler

The US Senate voted to confirm two people nominated by president Joe Biden for senior posts on the Federal Reserve on September 6.

It confirmed Philip Jefferson as vice-chair of the Fed’s board. It also voted by a narrower majority to give sitting board member Lisa Cook a full 14-year term.

The Senate voted to wind down debate on Adriana Kugler, whom Biden nominated to fill a vacant seat on the seven-member board. It will vote on Kugler’s nomination on September 7.

The upper house voted 88-10
