Court will not suspend Carrasquilla appointment to Colombian central bank
Lawyers allege appointment is form of state capture and violates gender quota law
One of Colombia’s highest courts declined requests to suspend Alberto Carrasquilla from his position on the central bank’s board. However, the court permitted lawsuits against his appointment to proceed.
Two lawyers in Bogotá, Juan Sebastián Moreno Hernandez and Douglas Lorduy Montañez, have challenged Carrasquilla’s appointment before the Council of State, the country’s highest court of administrative law. They sought an injunction preventing Carrasquilla from acting as a board member while
