BIS and HKMA conclude green DLT project

HKMA says it is considering pilot issuance of tokenised green government bonds

Technical tests have shown potential for retail investors to subscribe small amounts of green government bonds on blockchains, according to a report by the Bank for International Settlements’ Hong Kong Innovation Hub.

The prototypes unveiled on November 3 are the fruit of ‘Project Genesis’, launched in August this year, the first green finance project of the Innovation Hub. It was developed in partnership with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and private firms.
