Virus risks disruption in China spilling over to the global economy, the Fed says

The coronavirus outbreak is a new risk to the US outlook, the Federal Reserve warned in its recent report to Congress.

“The recent emergence of the coronavirus … could lead to disruptions in China that spill over to the rest of the global economy,” the central bank says in the Monetary policy report.  

The virus’s death toll has recently risen above that of the Sars epidemic in 2003, reaching 813, the BBC reports. Only two deaths have occurred outside of mainland China but over 34,800 people
