Argentina calls on IMF for help
President Macri calls upon the IMF for financial aid as peso depreciation continues
Argentina is in talks with the International Monetary Fund to secure financial assistance, which the country’s president hopes will resolve an economic “stalemate”.
Speaking in an unscheduled press conference on May 8, Mauricio Macri said seeking assistance from the fund was a way for the country to avoid an “economic crisis”. “I am convinced that the path we are taking will achieve a better future for all,” he said.
