Bank of Mexico hikes again as inflation remains high
The prospect of tighter policy in US affects monetary decisions in its major southern trading partner
The Bank of Mexico raised its key policy rate by 25 basis points to 7.5% on February 8, as inflation remains well over target.
In its post-meeting statement, the central bank also highlights that the US Federal Reserve Board may respond to stronger growth with a tighter policy stance than markets anticipated in 2017.
The decision was taken unanimously by the five-member executive board and was the second consecutive hike presided over by governor Alejandro Díaz de León, who succeeded Agustín
