Noyer says ECB ‘ready to go further’
Banque de France governor says monetary policy is doing its job
The European Central Bank (ECB) is "ready to go further" if more monetary easing is needed to return inflation to target, Christian Noyer, the governor of the Banque de France, told a conference in Paris on May 19.
"So far, recent indicators suggest that our quantitative easing has had a positive effect on inflation expectations," Noyer said, although he stressed that "re-anchoring inflation expectations" takes time.
A problem specific to the eurozone, he said, was the "asymmetric adjustment
