Constâncio fleshes out wider macro-prudential vision

Vice-president wants toolkit to extend to wider range of financial entities

European Central Bank (ECB) vice-president Vítor Constâncio today renewed his call for a macro-prudential toolkit that extends beyond the banking sector, citing the risks associated with a wide range of financial entities, including asset managers.

Constâncio was taking stock of the global regulatory reform at the Hyman P Minsky Conference, held in Washington, DC, ahead of the IMF Spring Meetings.

He argued regulators were "close" to achieving their goal of making the banking sector safer, but
