Sudan names new central bank governor

Sudan has named a new governor to head its central bank, with state news agency Suna on Sunday reporting that Abdul-Rahman Hassan has been appointed by president Omar al-Bashir via "republican decree".

The report made no mention of incumbent governor Mohamed Khair Elzubair, who has served as governor from March 2011 and, like Hassan, is a member of Bashir's ruling National Congress Party.
