Ugandan governor rejects president’s growth target
Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, the Bank of Uganda governor, believes there is no chance of Uganda becoming a middle-income country by the government's stated target of 2017.
Uganda's president, Yoweri Museveni, has repeatedly talked of making Uganda a middle-income country by 2017, and a first world country by 2050, since commencing his fourth term in 2011.
The World Bank's definition of middle-income requires a country to achieve a gross national income (GNI) per capita of at least $1,036. In
