Serbian inflation on the rise

The governor of the National Bank of Serbia says the central bank expects the country's overall inflation rate to reach 6% this year.

The governor, Radovan Jelasic, added that while the forecast may not be accurate, the bank has suitable monetary policy measures ready to lessen the impact if "anything does happen". Monetary policy will not soften, he said, and the central bank aims to keep base inflation to between 3 and 6% next year, 2.5% in 2009 and 2.4% in 2010.
