BIS finds a third of jurisdictions not developing crypto regulations

Annual CBDC and crypto survey finds decline in expected retail CBDC launches by 2030

The changing data landscape

Most jurisdictions that responded to a Bank for International Settlements (BIS) survey are developing cryptocurrency regulation, though central bank uncertainty around its use remains.

Some 86 central banks responded to the BIS 2023 survey on central bank digital currency (CBDC) and cryptocurrency. Around two-thirds said their jurisdictions are developing regulatory frameworks.

Around half are developing bespoke regulations as the features and risks associated with crypto would not fit within
