Joint CBDC project highlights promise of interoperability
Banque de France, HSBC and IBM find different technologies can still work together
A joint project by the Banque de France, HSBC and IBM has demonstrated the possibility that central bank digital currency (CBDC) operating on different underlying technology can still work together.
The experiment, which concluded in December, saw the issuance of a digital bond on a blockchain and its subscription, with settlement taking place in CBDC.
