Brazil’s central bank authorises business payments on WhatsApp
Peers can also send money in India, while B2B only is enabled in Singapore
The Central Bank of Brazil approved business payments via Meta’s WhatsApp on March 2, three years after the company found its cryptocurrency ambitions halted by US regulators.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO said: “The central bank just authorised the launch of our new payment feature so people will be able to pay small businesses right on WhatsApp.” Users have been able to send personal payments to each other in Brazil since 2021.
