Deutsche Bundesbank posts €19.2 billion loss for 2024

Croatian and Norwegian central banks report profits

Germany’s central bank announced yesterday (February 25) that it had made a €19.2 billion ($21.1 billion) loss in 2024.

On the same day, the Norwegian and Croatian central banks posted profits of Nkr95.1 billion ($8.53 billion) and €10.5 million respectively.

Bundesbank “expects financial burdens to ease”

This was the second consecutive year of losses for the Deutsche Bundesbank, where the reserves had generated a €20.3 billion negative profit in 2023.

The bank said in a statement that its losses
