Brazil’s Pix reaches new record 163 million transactions in a day

Central bank launched instant payment system three years ago

Brazil’s instant payments platform Pix has reached new record performance on its third anniversary, said the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) in a statement published on December 8.

Pix took off in 2022, when it became the most popular payment method in Brazil. Last year, it recorded 24 billion transactions amounting to 1.2 trillion real ($243 billion).

In the second quarter of 2023 usage continued growing, reaching 9.4 billion operations. In September alone, the platform recorded 3.9 billion
