‘Any use case’ helped Pix succeed, Brazilian official says

Focus on user experience, low fees and firms’ support brought success, head of Pix team says

The Brazilian central bank’s Pix scheme has helped open up the country’s financial sector to competition, one of the officials managing it has said.

Pix provided a “very open and level playing field” for payment service providers (PSPs), said Carlos Eduardo Brandt, of the Central Bank of Brazil. Reasons for its success included clear branding and a flexible design not geared towards any particular use case, he said.
