ECB weekly asset purchases raised to €21.1 billion
On March 11, central bank promised to conduct purchases “at a significantly higher pace”
The European Central Bank increased the rate of asset purchases in the week to March 19, according to data published on March 22.
Under the €1.85 trillion ($2.19 trillion) Pandemic Emergency Purchase Programme, the ECB purchased €21.1 billion over the past week, up from €18.7 billion in the week to March 12. Nonetheless, that week, net purchases were recorded at €14.1 billion, due to €4.6 billion in redemptions. The ECB will publish data on its redemptions later today (March 23).
