BoE’s Vlieghe: QE unwind need not impact yield curve

Yield curve has flattened since BoE’s independence and is likely to stay that way- MPC member

Quantitative easing impacted the yield curve, but unwinding the policy will not necessarily cause the curve to change much, the Bank of England’s Jan Vlieghe argued on September 25.

In a speech at Imperial College Business School, the monetary policy committee member said yield curves had generally flattened around the world as central banks became independent, a process that began before the advent of QE.
